We make a soap dish with our own hands: types and master class

    Coziness in the house is made up of many little things: beautiful curtains, a soft rug, candles, figurines and much more. An ordinary soap dish is no exception. It is a cute and useful accessory. Plus, a soap dish doesn't have to be a boring piece of plastic. Everyone is able to independently make a stylish and beautiful accessory without spending extra money, effort and time on it. To start creating, we suggest that you get acquainted with several simple but original options for creating a soap dish.

    Manufacturing rules

    Before proceeding with the creation of such an object, let us name the universal parameters that must be guided by.

    The simpler the better

    You should not choose a model that is too complicated to manufacture. After all, even the most trivial design will perfectly cope with its intended purpose. It is worth rationally using your time and energy to create a beautiful and unique product.

    Minimum details

    Compliance with this rule will help facilitate the process of manufacturing a soap dish and caring for it. In addition, the laconic accessory looks more stylish and neat.

    Moisture resistant material type

    Some materials can quickly deteriorate and deform from constant contact with water. The selection of material should be especially careful. The service life of the finished product depends on this.

    Suitable design

    The general style of decoration of the room for which the product is intended must be taken into account. With this in mind, choose its color, size and shape. The accessory should complement the interior, and not knock out of it.

    Cover presence

    If you intend to place the soap dish in an open space, such as in a garden, you should consider protecting the soap from external factors. To do this, be sure to make a cover for the product.

    Varieties

    Today, a soap dish can be made from different materials.

    • wall;
    • magnetic,
    • classic;
    • decorative.

    Let's consider different options for making a soap dish with our own hands, depending on the type of material used.

    Made of plastic

    This material is lightweight, durable, easy to use and easy to care for.

    For manufacturing you will need:

    • metal baking dishes;
    • straw for drinks;
    • baked plastic;
    • stationery file;
    • vinyl napkin;
    • scissors;
    • rolling pin.

    Choose a plastic of the desired color or mix several shades, knead it and form a ball. Then place the resulting mass on a file or polyethylene. Pre-wet the cellophane with water to make it easier to detach the plastic. Now you need to press on the ball so that it takes the shape of a pancake, then cover it with another layer of polyethylene moistened with water. Roll out the plastic with a rolling pin to the desired thickness, for example 3 mm.

    Remove the top layer of polyethylene, replace it with a vinyl napkin with a three-dimensional pattern. They pass through the material with a rolling pin so that the napkin pattern is clearly imprinted on the plastic. You can do it differently: use a metal cookie cutter instead of a napkin. Carefully remove the napkin or mold, remove the remaining polyethylene.

    It is necessary to give the product its final look. You can leave the existing shape, make beautiful flounces, using the shape of an ashtray or other dishes. Don't forget to make holes in the bottom of the dish so the water will always drain. You can use a straw for this. Place the piece in the ovens and bake according to the instructions that came with the plastic.

    Wait until the product has completely solidified before removing it from the oven.

    From scrap materials

    Often, the right material for a soap dish is at hand. Let's consider the most interesting execution techniques.

    From the bottle

    To make a beautiful and practical soap dish, an ordinary plastic bottle is enough. Cut the bottom of the two containers so that they are at least 5 cm high. Sew these two pieces together with a regular zipper. The resulting product can be used in a bathroom or a bath, take with you on the road. Fast, practical and inexpensive.

    It is easy to make a flower soap dish from the bottom of a small plastic bottle. Cut the bottom to any height, heat the edges with a candle or lighter to give them an asymmetrical shape. It remains only to paint the finished product in the desired color.

    To do this, choose a moisture-resistant paint in spray cans.

    From wine corks

    If there are wine corks lying around in the house, do not throw them away. We offer a simple and quick version of a soap dish. Prepare 19 stoppers and a tube of regular glue. Make the bottom of the product by connecting the elements with a 3x3 cm square. Then create the sides of the soap dish by gluing the rest of the plugs along the edges just above the base.

    From ice cream sticks

    Another option for a simple budget soap dish. Prepare scissors, hot water, glue, wood sticks. Soak the sticks in water, give them a slightly curved shape. This is necessary so that the soap can be placed as conveniently as possible.

    Dry the parts, then on the base of two sticks make a grid of 6 more elements. Glue them together carefully using a waterproof product. Duplicate the result, connect the two lattice bases to each other with sticks from the sides.

    For convenience, you can add a sponge pad to the soap dish.

    Polymer clay

    This material opens up unlimited scope for creativity. Any shape can be created using polymer clay or epoxy. For example, a funny octopus. To do this, you will need some colored clay and some foil.

    Make a foil ball with a diameter of 2-3 mm. Then create a polymer clay cake and cover the ball with it. This will make the head of the future octopus. Next, prepare 8 balls of different diameters and form sticks out of them, which will serve as tentacles. Now attach them to the base of the octopus head.

    The three front tentacles need to be bent up slightly. They will serve as a soap holder. Twist one of the longest tentacles into a spiral using a marker. This will be the brush holder. It remains to deal with small details. Form the eyes of the remains of the clay, but also the mouth of the octopus.

    You can decorate it with additional accessories, for example, a hat.
